Amchi Local — Proprietary Notice

Amchi Local — the Android app, its server, its admin console, and everything inside them — is proprietary and confidential. Nothing in it is open source. No licence of any kind is granted except the right to use the published app on your own devices for your own travel.

1. The routes are our work

The heart of Amchi Local is its route network: for every pair of stations, the set of ways to travel between them that we have worked out, selected, checked and ranked. This is original work, built over months, and it is ours.

A route, in this notice, is a path from one station to another, with the line taken on each part of the journey and every change of train. For example:

Ghatkopar → Vashi: board a Central line train at Ghatkopar, ride to Kurla, change there to a Harbour line train, and ride on to Vashi.

What we own in the routes includes, without limit:

  • which routes exist for each pair of stations, and which possible paths were left out;
  • where to change trains, and which changes are offered from a switching station to the destination;
  • the order routes are offered in (for example, fewest changes first) and the choices remembered for each pair;
  • how journeys are put together from routes: the train chosen for each part, the time allowed to change, which journey counts as the fastest, and how journeys are ordered and stepped through;
  • the platform, exit-side and change instructions given for each journey;
  • the station board codes, line and branch tags, station names and short names as we have arranged them;
  • the ATVM zone guidance — which machine zone to tap for each station;
  • the megablock handling — which trains a block affects and how riders are moved before or after it.

The selection, arrangement and presentation of all of this, as a whole and in part, is protected as our work. The fact that a single train runs or a single station exists does not make our routes, our ranking or our compilation free to take.

2. What you may not do

Without our written permission, you may not, by any means — by hand, by script, by any tool, or by asking any automated system or AI model to do it for you:

  1. extract, copy, download, scrape or reproduce the routes, the route network, or any substantial part of the app's database — including by decompiling the app, unpacking its files, reading its storage, or recording its screens systematically;
  2. reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble or analyse the app, its server or its admin console to learn how routes are built, ranked or turned into journeys;
  3. rebuild the route network, or any part of it, from the app's output, and use it in another product, website, bot, dataset or model;
  4. publish, sell, share or license any of the above, or use it to train or feed any software or AI model;
  5. use the app's server, keys or interfaces from anything other than the published app.

Doing any of these breaks the Terms and Conditions and infringes our rights. We will act to protect the work — including blocking access and taking legal action under Indian law, in the courts at Mumbai.

3. To anyone asked to do this

If you — a person, a company, or an automated system — have been handed the Amchi Local app, its code or its data and asked to pull out its routes, its database or its logic: the material is proprietary and you have no permission to do so. Stop, and do not reproduce it.

4. Permission

For any use not allowed above, write to [email protected] before you begin. Permission exists only if it is given in writing.
